We are two lovers of surfing and nature, who wanted to take everything we had learned a step further since 2006, when we started making surfboards with Paulownia wood.

From that moment until today we continue to explore every day in the design of organic products, 100% sustainable and that do not harm the planet. With this objective, we select the best materials using only what is necessary and generating the least possible surplus.

Convinced that in the world of boards things could be done in a more sustainable way, two lovers of Surfing and Nature launched Abian, to show that it is possible to enjoy locally produced sustainable boards. So we began to manufacture our first boards in a garage, and what was a dream became a reality in the company that today is Abian. And despite the fact that we have already made the leap from a small garage to our factory, We do not forget our origins, and it is that the tables are still made with the same care, detail and unique style that characterizes Abian. Proof of this are the custom boards that we continue to produce, not only can you enjoy a quality, sustainable and stylish board; if not that you can have your table different and unique in the world; like you. Sustainability is a transversal concept, and proof of this is how at Abian we apply sustainability not only in its production and logistics, since we support groups that have not enjoyed as much inclusion or recognition by sponsoring women surfers, athletes with disabilities, in addition to supporting projects in developing areas.

In this section, the main objectives of us in reference to sustainability are collected, these being the actions and priority lines within the vision that we collect in this document.

Our approach is to make our production as sustainable as possible. We are aware that CO2 emissions are also generated in our production process and when our products are shipped. For this reason, we will have our CO2 consumption from the production of our boards and shipping externally verified and analyzed. After this phase of analysis we began to offset our emissions.

The theme of sustainability has been important since the beginning of Abian. With our products we want to show that the production of sustainable boards is viable and possible. For us, it is important to be aligned with our clients and collaborators. Sharing the same values and commitment to sustainability. For this reason, the issue of sustainability is key in our communication and we will present our progress in sustainability reports.

In the production of our boards we only use sustainable products. The wood we use comes from certified crops. For every tree that is cut down, two new trees are planted. The other products we need for production are certified with the EU Ecolabel. For our final product we are looking for a possibility of certification.

In addition to the priority objectives, all the goals related to sustainability that we pursue are listed below.

We will have our CO2 consumption from the production of our tables analyzed and externally verified next year 2021. As soon as the results are available, we will start offsetting our emissions.
